A little design goes a long way in this simple wall shelf, floor lamp and desk chair series, each with a peculiar, subtle but powerful twist (or bend or fold).
A nearly-invisible seam in the legs of these chairs, for instance, allows the user to (literally) turn a task seat into a lounge chair and back again via a hidden mechanism.
In similarly understated fashions, weight added to the shelving unit shows visibly how much it is holding up, and tilting this rocking lamp one way or another serves the extra purpose of turning the light on or off.
It is no accident that Jennifer Heier started with the basic forms of some of the most universal furniture objects – the idea here is to understand what they are fundamentally about traditionally before adding to their form or function.
