We came across an interesting use of creativity: hand-carved car tyres. The Belgian artist who created these interesting effects on car tyres – Studio Wim Delvoye – has experience with many faces of art – from laser cut stainless steel to photos printed on aluminum. There was an interesting reaction when we first saw these car tyres – can you imagine how much work and patience it took to create these carefully designed, intricate patterns? The collection named “Pneu” comes to show that even the most ignored objects can become masterpieces in the hands of a talented artist. Wim Delvoye is not the first artist to experiment with used car tyres, but he is surely a very patient, talented and focused artist.
